President Trump cancelled an Obama-era regulation which would have eliminated incandescent light bulbs starting next year.
The President told reporters “what’s saved is not worth it.”
Under the Obama-era rules, all light bulbs would be so-called energy saving LED or other types of bulb rather than the Thomas Edison-incandescent bulb.
At a rally in Fayetteville on Monday, the President touted his accomplishment:
“They were forcing you to buy lightbulbs that cost a fortune, so I signed something a couple of days ago that gives you the right to use the incandescent light,” he said. “Much less expensive.”
The President noted the Obama bulbs were not only way more expensive but contained toxic materials:
“If a bulb breaks, it’s considered almost like a waste site …the new bulbs, they’re very dangerous with all of the gasses,”
Now, you can decide how to light your home or your business.
“You’re going to hopefully buy the new ones, but you can buy the old ones too, and you can save a lot of money and you can even look better,”
A small but telling blow for freedom and a sharp rollback of the Obama-era Nanny state. See President’s Trump announce this rollback and then Go forth and let there be incandescent light!
