Those of you who have read my previous articles know that I tend to focus on practical, day-to-day safety and survival topics and stay away from politics. However, this is a topic that means too much to me to ignore.
By now anyone who hasn’t been living on another planet since last November knows that the Democrats succeeded in taking over a majority in the House, although thankfully they failed to take the Senate. That they didn’t not manage to take the Senate is itself unusual in a mid-term election, and in truth the forces of good did much better than predicted by the Liberal media since we did hold the Senate and the takeover in the House was of a much smaller margin than anticipated. Still, the Democrats have the House and that comic-opera gargoyle Pelosi is once again the Speaker of the House and that is reason enough for concern on our part.
Attack the Second Amendment
By now, all of you are well aware that the Democrats plan on making 2019 the year they attack the Second Amendment. They plan on ramming enough ‘gun control’ down our throats to force us into submission, all the while making things easier on criminals who don’t care about gun laws or gun free zones, and opening our borders to every illegal who wants to stroll in to take advantage of us just as the leaders of Europe did to their people.
But a majority in the House is not their only weapon, or their most effective one.
The Democrats best weapon against us is ourselves. As the comic strip character Pogo once said in a twist of Commander Oliver Hazard Perry’s famous words announcing his victory over the British after the 1813 Battle of Lake Erie, “We have met the enemy, and they are us.” The entire self-destructive process starts simply enough. 1911 fans hate Glock fans. The so-called ‘Fudds’ disparage shooters who like tactical shooting styles and AR rifles, who then openly hate the Fudds. Finally, hotheads fly off the handle and cancel their NRA memberships and all the while the Democrats cackle and rub their hands in glee at the dissention within the ranks of gun owners. After all, as Mark 3:25 says, “And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”
And this is what the Democrats are using as a weapon against us.
All one has to do is do a little news search to find Liberal media articles about how divided gun owners are, or how the NRA is losing members. And in the end, we will have become a house so divided, it is easy to defeat us, deny us our rights, and then drive us into a slavery where they make all the rules and have all the power. And what will we do then?
Sit around and wish for the good old days when we could order a new gun online or buy a thousand rounds of range ammo at a time without having to go to a state approved store and undergo a background check and a 30-day waiting period? Does that sound extreme? All you have to do is look at Europe, Australia or Mexico to see that it is not a wild or paranoid illusion. And every time we fight among ourselves, we push ourselves one step closer to that world.
So, what should we do? How do we prevent the loss of our freedom? The freedom that so many people have suffered and died to preserve.
Well, stop fighting among ourselves for a start. Stop arguing and hating each other because of the brand or caliber of gun we like best. Quit believing the Liberal media spin about how the NRA is “betraying” gun owners and then canceling our memberships. And most of, get off our butts and get involved. No one hates politics more than I do, but I respond to every call for action I receive to contact everyone from the POTUS to congressmen to the ATF. I vote in every election and I talk to other people to help them see reality and be involved themselves. Be active and support the grassroots organizations fighting the big money Liberals for our rights. Fighting for you and me and for our children and grandchildren.
I am a member of the NRA, the Gun Owners of America (GOA), a Frontline Defender in the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR), and of my state gun rights organization. My overall yearly cost to be a member of all these organizations is probably less than the cost of a celebration dinner and a night on the town. Even the Liberal press had to admit that the NRA is not controlled by big money, and that the average donation to the NRA is about $35. Compare that to what Michael Bloomberg pumps into anti-gun campaigns and anti-gun Liberal candidates’ election war chests every day. Campaigns intended to strip you of your rights and eventually control every aspect of your life from what you can look at on the internet to whether or not you can enjoy a soft drink with sugar in it through a plastic straw.
Face it, Liberals have the goal of controlling every aspect of the people’s lives, in and out of their homes.
They attack gun manufacturers through law suits over the actions of criminals. They attack gun shops for legally selling a gun to someone the FBI background check approved. Now they are even attacking credit card companies for not somehow magically knowing the person legally using their credit card to buy a gun or ammo intended to commit a crime. And it’s all intended to browbeat and intimidate banks, credit card companies and businesses into selling out to a totalitarian program of intimidation and extortion by threatening their livelihoods. And yet, they opening try to admit criminal illegals into the country and to force the legal system not to punish criminals.
So, come on folks. Stop spreading the dissention among us as gun owners that gives the anti’s ammunition to use against us. Show a united front and get involved. In short, quit acting like immature adolescents and hang together, because as Benjamin Franklin said, “We must all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately.” Support the NRA, GOA, NAGR and your state rights organizations today. Open or renew your memberships, sign up for their newsletters, respond and take action on every item they ask you to, and stop dissing each other. Now!
Divide and conquer is one of the oldest and most effective strategies for defeating an enemy every devised, and the more we fight among ourselves, the more we play right into their hands.
