This is a sign of how politically toxic the migrant crisis has become for Democrats at Manhattan.
While a court hearing is being held today (Monday) in Lower Manhattan on the city’s right-to-shelter policy, officials continue to call for more help in coping with the flow of immigrants coming into New York City.
More than 100,000 have arrived since the spring of last year. The locals are fed up.
Protesters in Manhattan heckled a pro-migrant press conference by Democrat politicians in front of the Roosevelt Hotel, which has become a migrant center.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and other Democrats, who spoke outside the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan, which has become a relief center for asylum seekers, were drowned out by shouting protesters chanting, “Send them back!” and “Close the border!”

Biden’s Cunning Little Plan – Texas Hold ‘Em
Joe Biden has a new plan to get these blue state officials off his back, but that new plan could be fraught with complications.
Essentially, Biden plans to force migrants to stay in Texas near the border in order to apply for asylum. Meaning they would be unable to travel within the United States until their application is approved:
LA TIMES – The Biden administration is considering forcing some migrant families who enter the country without authorization to remain near the border in Texas while awaiting asylum screening, effectively limiting their ability to travel within the United States, three U.S. officials told The Times.
But the proposal, which recalls President Reagan’s efforts to limit asylum seekers’ movements in the late 1980s, is likely to draw fierce opposition from immigrant rights groups and border-state officials. Since 2022, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, has bused thousands of migrants out of his state to Democrat-run cities such as Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C.
The Biden plan would force certain migrant families to remain in Texas — or possibly other border states — by tracking their location through GPS monitoring devices, such as ankle bracelets, according to the three officials, who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. The families would be put through an asylum screening process to determine whether they could stay in the U.S. and proceed with their claims. Officials have discussed working with local organizations to provide housing for the families.
If the families failed their initial screenings, they’d be easier to deport because they’d be close to the border.
Department of Homeland Security officials have discussed targeting Central American families in the program, because those are countries where the U.S. can deport significant numbers of people.
They can’t directly stop Governor Abbott’s busing program because it’s perfectly legal. But they’ve got to make these blue state officials happy, at least while Biden is running for reelection. Instead of actually trying to secure the border, they’ve decided they’re going to begin forcing illegals to stay in Texas so that they are unable to be bused by Abbott to these sanctuary cities.
This is what they’re putting up with
