Apeel Sciences is the company that makes a product used to coat grocery store fruit and vegetables known as Edipeel. It claims it saves on wasted produce as well as single use plastics such as wrapping for cucumbers.
The website for Apeel states that produce that has Edipeel applied to it “stays at peak freshness for longer. More time can help you waste less of what you buy.” Also on the site: Edipeel is described as a thin, edible coating that is designed to be consumed. The company is backed by Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and many of the usual suspects, who as we know are obsessed with population control. The website says:
By 2050, the earth will be home to a couple billion more people. If we continue using the methods we’re using today, we’ll need 70% more food and more than 2x the amount of water. So why are we wasting 30-40% of what we grow? and…
What are the ingredients in Apeel?
Apeel is composed entirely of purified monoglycerides and diglycerides, edible compounds that can be found in a variety of foods.
There is an alternative view and it’s not pretty
