The omnibus spending package does NOTHING to help the American people and funds higher levels of spending than under the Pelosi regime. It should have been voted down by every Republican.
However, on Wednesday, 83 House Republicans voted against a roughly $460 billion package of bills to fund large swaths of the federal government, many voting against bringing home money to the their districts. (Which will go anyway as they were out-voted.)
The House passed a package of six government funding bills Wednesday afternoon to avert a partial government shutdown before the Friday deadline. The $467.5 billion appropriations package was voted on under suspension of the rules, which required a two-thirds majority to pass. That meant, once again, Speaker Mike Johnson had to rely on Democrats’ votes to pass it — a move that landed former speaker Kevin McCarthy in hot water and contributed to his ouster last year.
The bills easily passed with a vote of 339-85 with more Democrats backing it than Republicans. The funding package now heads to the Senate, where its leaders are encouraging their colleagues to work together to pass the bills.
Based on CBO numbers (outlays), Congress will spend tens of billions more in FY-2024 (Johnson-Schumer) than we did in FY-2023 (Pelosi-Schumer) on the 6 appropriation titles included in today’s omnibus.

The reductions being touted in this omnibus by Republicans are GIMMICKS. pic.twitter.com/LM1dU3N9rR
One Republican Senator gets 8 earmarks in the omnibus today.

No one voted to add these and no one gets to vote to take these out.
We have gone backwards 14 years, to before the 2010 Tea Party wave.
The swamp is back to buying Republican votes for the omnibus with earmarks. pic.twitter.com/DTUOg2UTPv
Budget gimmicks and earmarks are an intoxicating cocktail.

After 14 months sober, Congress has fallen off the wagon.
By a vote of 339 to 85, the Republican led House just passed a minibus that spends tens of billions more than Pelosi’s House spent on the same things last year.
Looting of the federal treasury and fleecing of taxpayers are out of control in this omnibus.

Chuck Schumer managed to secure 170 earmarks in 6 combined bills:
THUD – 76
Milcon VA – 1
Interior – 56
E&W – 6
CJS – 18
Ag – 13
