What exactly has “nest-feathering, lame-duck” Secretary Pete done for US ports and shipping?

Here’s what Pete said, “America’s ports are essential to our nation’s supply chains. With these investments from the Biden-Harris Infrastructure Law, we’re continuing to expand capacity, increase efficiency, and facilitate the quicker movement of goods at ports.” This is far, far from the truth. On his watch we have let our ports slide further into disrepair. Pete punted on upgrades, improvements and making American shipping great again in favor of DEI and green energy initiatives.

Great list from Ross Kennedy aka Huntsman aka @maphumanintent

Things rarely (if ever) discussed, let alone addressed in four years, by the nest feathering lame duck Secretary Pete:

  1. Lack of standardized container tracking methodology, technical framework, or interoperability
  2. Appointment/access systems being abused by terminals, railroads, and ocean carriers to generate demurrage and detention revenues
  3. Container yard operators backdating digital interchange activities to steal money from importers and exporters
  4. Abuse of novel fees and surcharges by ocean carriers and port terminals to increase rates outside of statutory requirements
  5. Lack of coordination between DOT and other agencies to streamline cargo operations and compliance
  6. Critical national security vulnerabilities in road, rail, port, and air networks (particularly signaling and control systems)
  7. Chinese cranes and other handling equipment in US ports
  8. Lack of rigorous oversight of CDL mills and explosion in hiring of unqualified drivers and truckers
  9. Vulnerabilities in US’ pipeline network
  10. Lack of automation in ports
  11. Total neglect of US Merchant Marine and mariners
  12. Accelerating decline of US shipbuilding and maritime infrastructure

For starters.
