Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of Russia’s Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defense Forces, frequently accused the United States of being involved in the creation of the Covid-19 virus. He claimed that the virus was a biological weapon developed by the U.S., with assertions that it was part of a broader scheme involving U.S.-backed biolabs in Ukraine aimed at potentially sparking pandemics. These claims were part of a narrative that also involved accusing the U.S. of other biological threats, including the use of mosquitoes to spread malaria among Russian troops. Kirillov was assassinated on December 17, 2024, in Moscow when an explosive device hidden in an electric scooter detonated as he was leaving a residential building. This attack also killed his assistant. The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) claimed responsibility for the assassination, describing Kirillov as a “war criminal” and stating he was a legitimate target due to his alleged role in ordering the use of banned chemical weapons against Ukrainian forces. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) detained an Uzbek citizen, claiming he was recruited by Ukrainian special services to carry out the attack.

Possible suspects primarily center around Ukrainian intelligence, given their public claim of responsibility. However, Russian officials have hinted at broader Western involvement, with some Russian commentators suggesting that the U.S. or UK might have had a role.

We all know that Ukrainian politicians are corrupt. There have been accusations that the billions poured into the Ukrainian war with Russia includes paybacks to western politicians, NGOs, military contractors and just about everyone along the way.
