Break-in at Army Base in California – Humvees stolen!

On January 8, 2023, a break-in occurred at the U.S. Army Reserve Center in Tustin, California, (35 miles southeast of Los Angeles) where thieves managed to cut through a fence to steal three military Humvees and various pieces of equipment including machine gun mounts, bayonets, and medical gear.

According to reports, the following items were taken:

  • 3 Humvees
  • 8 machine gun vehicle mounts
  • 18 bayonets
  • 40 pairs of binoculars
  • 7 machine gun tripods

The incident occurred on the evening of January 8, 2025. There were also mentions of an unsuccessful attempt to steal more equipment. The break-in was significant enough to warrant National Guard intervention for dealing with looters and traffic control in the aftermath. Speculation exists regarding possible insider involvement due to the nature of the theft, although no conclusive evidence has been presented in the sources. The incident has led to an active investigation by local police to recover the stolen assets.

The question is: Terrorism or criminal act? Who wants all this equipment unless they plan harm? Three Humvees and a load of gun mounts are enough for an attack, whether by vigilantes or terrorists.
