What was this arrest and release at Kamala’s home all about?

Early Saturday morning, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrested two men at Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence in Brentwood, Los Angeles, following a call about a potential break-in at around 4:40 a.m.

The LAPD found the men, who were reportedly dressed in all black, on the property. Although initially detained for possibly violating curfew rules aimed at preventing looting and unrest in fire evacuation zones due to the Greater Los Angeles wildfires, further investigation found no evidence of criminal activity related to burglary.

According to local reports from KTLA, the men were detained under suspicion of breaking curfew but were subsequently released without charges after it was determined they weren’t involved in any illegal activities. Details regarding their presence on the property remain unclear, and it’s uncertain if the matter will be further investigated.

Enhanced security measures are in place due to the wildfires, with patrols by the National Guard, LAPD, Santa Monica Police, and Airport Police enforcing a curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in affected areas, including Brentwood, which is near where the Palisades Fire has been spreading inland.

Harris previously served as California’s Attorney General.
