We have all encountered it at some point. The creepy lab technician, the weird needy teacher, the straight-out pervert – all wanting to be sexually inappropriate with children in school. Nowadays, it’s out of control. Perverts who are attracted to children always place themselves in a position of trust to make it easy for them to molest children: religious leaders, scout leaders, coaches, teachers are just some of the groups with more than their share of perverts.
Sexual predation in schools is a serious issue that’s been making headlines and stirring concern for years. A U.S. Department of Education report showed a sharp rise in sexual violence in K-12 schools before the pandemic, jumping from 9,649 incidents in the 2015–2016 school year to 14,938 in 2017–2018—a 55% increase. Many believe even those numbers don’t tell the full story.
More recently, a 2023 Fox News Digital investigation uncovered nearly 350 public educators arrested for child sex-related crimes in 2022 alone, from teachers to principals, spanning nearly every state.
Posts on X have pointed to over 11,000 reported incidents between 2000 and 2019, with some suggesting the real count could be triple that. As of March 11, 2025, we don’t have complete data to say if this year’s numbers are climbing higher, but the steady stream of arrests and reports shows this isn’t going away.
And it’s a problem that’s got people pushing for tougher safeguards in schools.
