Fast forward to August 8, 2025, and this clip is blowing up again, reminding everyone just how insidious this plan is. With AI exploding – think data centers guzzling electricity like it’s going out of style – the pressure on the grid is only ramping up. Global data centers scarfed down 500 terawatt-hours in 2023, and projections say that could triple to 1,500 by 2030. Under current policies, that’s an extra 1.7 gigatons of greenhouse gas emissions between 2025 and 2030 – about as much as Italy belches out over five years. But instead of unleashing reliable energy like natural gas or nuclear to keep up, the geniuses want to ration your usage. Because why build more power plants when you can just flip switches in people’s homes?
