The White House has launched an official public webpage dedicated to documenting and debunking what it describes as false or misleading reporting by major news outlets. The site features:
- A real-time “trust leaderboard” ranking outlets by the number of corrections, retractions, or stories the administration claims were debunked.
- A detailed “Hall of Shame” archive listing specific articles the White House alleges contained significant errors or bias, complete with links to the original stories and the administration’s rebuttals.
- A weekly “Media Offender of the Week” spotlight on the outlet or journalist the White House says spread the most egregious falsehood that week.
As of launch, the Washington Post has the lowest ranking on the leaderboard, with dozens of flagged stories dating back years. Other major outlets, including CNN, The New York Times, and MSNBC, also appear prominently in the archive.
The page is hosted on whitehouse.gov and is fully public. Supporters are calling it the most aggressive transparency push against perceived media bias in modern history, while critics are already denouncing it as government intimidation of the press.
Whatever your view, it’s undeniably a new escalation in the long-running war between the Trump administration and mainstream media. The receipts are now online for anyone to examine.
