Police officers who were warned a ship that lost its steering was headed toward the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore had only about 90 seconds to stop traffic before the bridge collapsed early Tuesday. You can listen to the conversation with 911 in this X post.

Dispatch audio captured the moments after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed in Baltimore, as emergency crews prepared to respond to the disaster. A cargo ship crashed into the bridge, causing it to collapse.
Two people have been rescued from the water, crews continue to search for six others who remain missing. In the audio, you can hear first responders note that the cargo ship had taken down “the complete center span of the bridge.”
The first responders are stunningly calm and professional.
Following the bridge collapse, traffic is currently being detoured onto I-895 through the Baltimore harbor tunnel or through the city.
