Vladimir Putin has expressed significant concerns regarding the use of long-range missiles by Ukraine against Russian territory. He has indicated that if NATO countries, particularly the United States, allow Ukraine to use these missiles to strike inside Russia, it would signify NATO’s direct participation in the conflict.

Putin has stated that this would “substantially change the very essence, the nature of the conflict,” implying that it would mean NATO countries, the USA, and European states are “fighting with Russia.”
He has also mentioned that the Ukrainian forces would require assistance from NATO for targeting and programming these missiles, suggesting that their use would be a clear indication of NATO involvement.

Putin has further warned that such actions would provoke a response from Russia, although he has not detailed what that response might be, only that it would be based on the threats created for Russia. He has previously hinted at the possibility of arming NATO countries’ adversaries with long-range weapons in retaliation. Moreover, in response to the escalation, Putin signed a decree lowering the threshold for Russia’s potential use of nuclear weapons, suggesting that even a conventional attack supported by a nuclear power could justify a nuclear response.
Putin warned that if NATO countries gave the green light to Kiev to use long-range missiles to strike inside Russia, not only would it mean direct conflict with NATO…
