They’re called Disrupters. Like Uber, Airbnb, and Amazon, they take on traditional ways of selling or making a product or service. And for those of us who wear eyeglasses and know what a pain it is to go to the optometrist, and how expensive eye glasses can be, it’s interesting to see how innovation can drive down prices.
After all, look at two other areas that aren’t controlled by the insurance companies, and see how prices have dropped and quality has improved: cosmetic surgery and Lasik eye treatments. Why should eye health be different. Not many insurance policies cover it and it tends to be expensive.
