A Cape Cod man out catching lobsters got closer than he wanted to the jaws of a great white shark when the monster nearly took a bite out of his boat.
Matt Riley and his friends were hauling in a lobster trap when the huge shark came charging out of the water.
“He’s coming right up to the boat!,” one friend can be heard shouting.
The shark snapped at and bumped the boat, then flipped its tail as it swam away.
Riley says the shark was attracted to a dead humpback whale in the area. It may have mistaken the boat for a floating carcass. In later video Riley motors toward the dead whale, on which the shark is feeding.
There’s been a spike of great white sighting off Cape Cod, with 30 sharks spotted in July alone.
