WTH is going on? Another derailment, a factory fire and a chemical slick.

I’m sure that all the residents are happy to hear that “Nothing is leaking” from another derailed Norfolk Southern train. The freight train which derailed in the metro Detroit area on Thursday is not a pollution concern, say Michigan regulators.

“Nothing is leaking,” said Jill Greenberg, spokesperson for the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE). “There is no environmental concern at the site.”

Authorities say approximately 30 cars were involved in the train derailment, which occurred Thursday, Feb. 16 just before 9 a.m. in Van Buren Township near Belleville. The cause of the derailment was not immediately clear.  Just one of the cars was carrying hazardous cargo.
