Crazy old coot gets “ratioed” for obvious lie

In case you’re not a Twitter user (I take one for the team here. Twitter is very often days ahead on news coverage and I like to bring you fresh meat) you might not know what getting “ratio-ed” means. This tweet is an excellent example. The crazy old coot has made a demonstrably false claim here, expecting his 81 million voters to react with joy and praise.

What actually happens is the conservative cohort of Tweeters pile in with sarcastic comments and memes. “Ratio” on social media refers to the ratio of replies or comments to “likes” or favorable comments. A high ratio of replies to likes suggests that a post is unpopular or controversial.

Ratio level off the charts!
