These were said to contain the remains of Israeli hostages Shiri Bibas, her sons Kfir (9 months old when abducted) and Ariel (4), and Oded Lifshitz (83), all taken during the October 7, 2023, attack.

Chants and cheers accompanied the coffins’ departure in a staged event, repulsive in its cynicism. The UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned this as “abhorrent,” citing a violation of international norms for handling remains with dignity, indicating widespread revulsion at the spectacle.

Forensic analysis in Israel revealed grim details: the IDF confirmed Ariel, Kfir, and Lifshitz were murdered in captivity—Israel claims by Hamas or Islamic Jihad in November 2023 and not by airstrikes as Hamas had asserted.

Most shockingly, the coffin meant for Shiri Bibas contained an unidentified Gazan woman’s body instead, per IDF and Netanyahu’s statements reported by Reuters and The Times.
