On April 17, 2020, Dr. Anthony Fauci cited the “Proximal Origin” paper from the White House, dismissing the COVID-19 lab leak theory. However, private messages from the paper’s authors, later uncovered by the House Oversight Committee, revealed they couldn’t fully rule out the lab leak hypothesis on that day.
The Biden administration’s COVID.gov now redirects to a new White House site, “Lab Leak: The True Origins of COVID-19,” which argues the virus originated from a lab.
Key points include:
- The virus has a unique biological trait not found in nature.
- All cases trace to a single human introduction, unlike typical pandemics with multiple spillovers.
- The Wuhan Institute of Virology, located 7.5 miles from the Huanan Seafood Market (an early COVID-19 epicenter), conducted risky gain-of-function research at inadequate biosafety levels.
- WIV researchers showed COVID-like symptoms in fall 2019, predating the wet market outbreak.
- A Republican-led House Subcommittee report, featured on the site, concludes a lab origin is most likely.
The White House criticizes the Biden administration’s pandemic response, calling lockdowns harmful, masks ineffective, and the 6-foot distancing rule arbitrary. It highlights Biden’s full pardon of Fauci for any offenses from 2014 to January 20, 2025.
The site also accuses the Biden administration of censoring alternative theories, including the lab leak hypothesis, by pressuring social media companies and suppressing unapproved treatments. It claims public health officials misled Americans with inconsistent messaging and a lack of transparency, undermining public trust.
