The ‘flying car’ that’s part van, part helo

XPeng AeroHT, the aerospace arm of Chinese EV maker XPeng, has unveiled its Land Aircraft Carrier, a modular flying car. The system features an electric six-wheeled minivan housing a foldable eVTOL* aircraft that can be deployed for flight. Priced under $300,000, it targets thrill-seekers and emergency rescue operations. With over 3,000 intent orders, mass production is set for 2025, with deliveries planned for 2026. The eVTOL offers a 40-50 km range, while the van includes advanced driver-assistance systems. AeroHT is navigating regulatory approvals in China, aiming to tap into the growing low-altitude economy.

These are so cool, can’t we make one??? Paging Elon, paging Elon…

*eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) technology refers to aircraft that use electric propulsion to take off, hover, and land vertically, combining the capabilities of helicopters with the efficiency and environmental benefits of electric power. Designed for short-range urban or regional air mobility, eVTOLs aim to revolutionize transportation, logistics, and emergency services by offering quieter, greener, and potentially more cost-effective alternatives to traditional aircraft.
