The DIY ‘Meal in a Bag’ Project – Help a family out or prep for an emergency.

This woman has launched a movement with her “Meal in a Bag”, shelf-stable bag of groceries and a recipe card. You can see ideas everywhere and I’m sure you will have a few yourself.

This woman uses Dollar Tree items packed in a ziplock bag and each meal comes in at under $8, arriving with a recipe card, so that anyone can make a warm, home-cooked meal. It’s a great gift idea for your food pantry or church food drive this holiday season which I am sure you can develop in your own way.

She has recently worked with a food nutritionist to use these mostly canned items to the best of their healthy ability. But if you’re in a bind – I’m sure these are a very welcome aid to stretch your budget.

Emergency uses

But they would also work for one-burner cooking in an emergency. A few of these in your bug-out bag or your blackout supplies would be mighty handy!

And for moms – if you’re sick, this is something all go to go for your husband or bigger kids to prepare/
