…meanwhile in Chicago…

What a weekend!

But instead of fighting crime, Chicago Mayor Sends POLICE To RAID Black Church

Yep, Chicago’s first openly gay mayor, Lori Lightfoot, mounted a police raid on a black South Side church for holding services in defiance of her coronavirus lockdown orders. Meanwhile, at least eight people were killed and 24 injured in shootings this weekend in Chicago, police data show. It’s the city’s deadliest Memorial Day weekend in four years, despite stay-at-home orders.

Lightfoot reportedly sent three marked squad cars and two unmarked cars full of officers to the Chicago Cornerstone Baptist Church in the South Side’s Woodlawn neighborhood. Woodlawn is just south of Hyde Park, the area in which the Obamas lived for a short time before Barack became president.

The police banged on the church doors which were locked during the service because of the threat from gun violence. (ABL reports)

“The pastor was in the middle of his sermon when he heard loud banging on front doors. It was the police…the men of the church were instructed not to open the doors during the services — per protocol.”

The church pastor has appealed to President Trump to intervene and protect what he sees as the church’s First Amendment rights. This comes just days after the President declared churches to be “essential” to American everyday life.
