MSNBC Host Slams Pelosi for Holding Up Stock Trading Ban Bill

276

MSNBC Host Stephanie Ruhle is questioning House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and her motives as a bill banning congressional stock trading waits to be brought to a vote.

Ruhle was discussing the problem with current Democrat Representative Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) who also expressed frustration with the hold up, Mediaite reports.

Ruhle called the practice by Congress “sleazy” and said the bill has been written and awaiting a vote since 2020.

The legislation has more than 60 co-sponsors which include both Republicans and Democrats yet Pelosi continues to stall the “straight-forward” legislation, Spanberger pointed out.

Ruhle pointed out to Spanberger that, “you can’t blame Republicans on this one.”

Pelosi has faced criticism for large stock investments and questionable trades by her husband Paul Pelosi, and Spanberger thinks passing the ban would signify that Congress is working for the people.

The Democrat congresswoman pointed out that if Pelosi wanted to pass it she could, stating, “If the Speaker wanted to bring it for a vote this week or this month, she certainly could.”

Congress goes into recess on September 30th.
