Is Biden planning sneaky “bait and switch” with ‘Green Card” move?

It usually takes years to acquire a “green card” — a permanent residency grant —  or the ability to live and work in America, and the first major step on the path to citizenship. Now the Administration is considering speeding this up and handing green cards out to people living illegally in the country for the past ten years if they meet the cancellation of removal requirements and an immigration judge rules in their favor.

Having a green card does not give you the ability to vote as the US Constitution permits only citizens to do that – but as we have seen many jurisdictions don’t take this requirement very seriously.

Biden and his administration are weighing several ideas to take a tougher stance on the southern border crisis and illegal immigration amid criticisms he has thus far failed to act on either. The administration could start dolling out green cards to illegal immigrants who have long stayed inside the United States, thereby giving them amnesty to stay in the country, three people familiar with the planning told Politico.

It would represent a larger effort by Biden to take action on behalf of illegal immigrants who have long stayed inside the U.S., the three officials told Politico. The Obama administration took similar action in 2012 with the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which delayed the deportation of illegal migrants who came to the U.S. when they were minors.

It seems Biden might have decided that the best way to staunch the flood of illegal immigrants would be to remove their illegal status.

The report Monday, which cited three unidentified people familiar with the plan, said the Biden administration has begun pondering giving out green cards to illegal immigrants already in the country.

“One idea that has been floated among administration officials is opening access to the cancellation of removal program for people who have lived in the U.S. for over 10 years and have citizen or resident relatives who would ‘suffer’ if they were deported,” Politico reported.

“If specific requirements are met and an immigration judge approves cancellation of removal, a migrant is able to obtain a green card,” it said. Thus an illegal becomes legal at the stroke of a pen.

National Border Patrol Council president Brandon Judd has been outspoken in his criticism of the president’s policies and the devious ways he is suppressing illegal border crossing numbers, such as flying in illegals, and now he is predicting an amnesty he calls a “bait and switch”.

This is a pandering move designed to cool down the far-left. But it might backfire. Legal immigrants take a very dim view of people who jump the line, who don’t put in the hours of visits and interviews and expensive legal bills. This is a massive slap in the face to immigrants who CAN vote.
